Inmate advocates say Framingham MA women’s prison must address this privacy issue

Advocacy groups and inmates have raised complaints over what they say is a lack of privacy in the shower areas at the state’s only women’s prison.
The issues stem from the Mass. Department of Correction switching out the shower curtains at MCI-Framingham sometime in 2023, according to a letter written by the Prisoners’ Legal Services of Massachusetts late that year.
Sarah Nawab, a staff attorney with Prisoners’ Legal Services, told the Daily News that the prison’s previous shower curtains offered more privacy to inmates, whereas the newer ones have large clear portions on the top and bottom of the showers, leaving some women’s breasts and genital areas exposed.
